Kingdom of the Keys lion crest

Touch typing for ages 8 to 12

Every key has a home. Learn them all.

Short lessons that start on the home row, guide hands that show which finger to use, games that unlock as kids improve, and ranks from Cub to King or Queen of the Keys.

The daily habit

Ten minutes a day adds up.

Typing is a motor skill. Like free throws or piano scales, it is built by short, steady practice, not long sessions once a week. Every typist gets a ten-minute daily goal, a progress ring, and a weekly streak, so practice becomes part of the routine.

How it works

Proper technique from the first key.

  1. Start on the home row.Pointer fingers find the bumps on F and J. Every lesson begins there, so hands always know where home is.
  2. Follow the guide hands.On-screen hands show which finger reaches each key. Kids learn the right finger from day one instead of hunting and pecking, and their eyes stay on the screen.
  3. Master a few keys at a time. Each lesson adds a key or two and takes 2 to 3 minutes. Accuracy comes first. Speed follows.
  4. Play, practice, and climb.Games unlock along the route. After the final lesson, the Practice Lab turns one-minute runs into ranks from Cub to King or Queen of the Keys.

  • ★★★94% accuracyGetting strong
  • ★★★97% accuracyMastered

Every star also needs at least 8 words per minute, so lessons can't be crawled through. One star moves a child forward. Replaying for three stars builds mastery, and the best try is always kept.
